Re: Outdpor Lighting - advice needed

That's likely an 88 watt transformer.

Wow - how are you determining that???

I finally found installation instructions, but there are numerous models included, ML88T being one of them. Once I found them, I thought maybe it was 121 watts, or perhaps even 200, based on the diagrams (see new pic) - what do I know...

Does this diagram help to confirm your opinion?

I had an 8 light deck kit that looks exactly like your transformer. I remember it was 88 watts. Do you know how many total watts your fixtures add up to? Because replacing them with leds, which are far more efficient should result in your wattage load going down anyway.

Re: Outdpor Lighting - advice needed

Currently, I have 14 4-watt incandescent fixtures = 56 watts. So, I guess I will be OK putting in either 7 or 14 4.5-watt LEDs. I just hate that I have to replace fixtures that run $7-$8 apiece with ones that are $30 each. Oh well...

I use 14 now only because the lighting is not what I want with only one light on each tree, so I use two per tree. With LEDs, I might be able to use half of that, assuming the lighting is better.

You will be amazed how much more light a 4.5 watt led is compared to a 4 watt incandescent.

Cool! This is the way I guess I'm going to go - one by one, as the old fixtures die!

All the old ones are working now, just wanted to be able to get a back-up or two on hand.

Re: Outdpor Lighting - advice needed

Just keep in mind: stores carry the products for a while then change them whenever a new line of products or a different manufacturer comes along. So an ornamental lantern or path light style could be there this year, but not next year.

Re: Outdpor Lighting - advice needed

Well, the old spot light stuff I have been using has been around for a long, long time. But, to be sure, the newer stuff won't be around as long, no doubt!!! Thanks for all of your input.
