Re: Need to some really strong weed killer

Pump sprayer with concentrate. I spray a lot at our hunting camp so I buy the concentrate in a 2.5 gal jug:

HDX kills just like the name brand. Only difference I see is that you will see results from the name brand in a day or two. HDX takes about a week. The 2.5 gal. jug makes a heck of a lot of weed killer and you cant beat the price

If you want it really gone and nothing will grow back for a long time get some rock salt. We had poison ivy I just couldn't kill, poured the salt and water off an ice cream freezer, that took care of that, never did come back, but after several months the grass came back. I have put rock salt on other things I wanted dead, always worked for me.

You won't spray a 16x20 area by hand???

Assuming that came out wrong, I'd do some Roundup in a pump pot. Buy the concentrate and mix it a little hotter if you'd like. And if it is mostly broadleaf weeds (not grass) I'd maybe consider a 2,4-D approach. A little more effective on your non-grasses.

Re: Need to some really strong weed killer

when i said i wouldnt spray that size by hand, i meant using the premixed kind that comes in its own sprayer, never seems to spray correctly or alot of work just to spray, thats why i said for ones and twos in the driveway its ok..

Ill have to see if i can find my sprayer and check out the concentrate to do that..

And the rock salt sounds like another option...

Why don't you want to consider the 2.5 gal concentrate that was identified in post 16

As near as my ole eyes can tell when I zoom them, they are both 41percent glyphosate so I would probably buy the lesser expensive and use the difference in price to take the wife out for a cheeep lunch.

Unless they do a hell-of-ah lot of spraying, @ 1.5 oz. of concentrate / Ot. of water that 2.5 gallon jug will be on the storage shelf for 10 to 20 years.

You are probably right Senior for the average homeowner. I just see that cost per oz. price and go for the big jug vs the small one. Warehouse shopping mentality.
Works for me because I spray a lot, but even so a jug will last me two years.

If you want faster results, you can Try RoundUp Quick Pro. It's available in easy-to-mix packets that require no measuring (1 packet per gallon). It has an extra herbicide for faster "knock down", usually in about 2 days.

I would also recommend using a surfactant for better results:

Finally, do yourself a favor and buy a *nice* sprayer. The $10 ones from the home store are great as "throw away" units, but fail quickly and can be frustrating to use. The quality difference in a $10 sprayer and a $40 sprayer is night and day.

Re: Need to some really strong weed killer

Finally applied the weed killer yesterday after work... we will see how it works out..

will post back results.. less than 24hrs, no visible changes, but im not in a hurry, as long as it works..

I did notice that in my 1st sprayer that i cleaned out and used for the insect killer, whatever i had in there and emptied into the area i wanted to kill the weeds it killed everything within 24hr period. all brown and dried up, not sure what i had in there, but that seemed to work as well..
