Need Help with Sprinkler Layouts

So I’m redoing my back lawn, it’s relatively small. I have a sprinkler system setup right now but there are a few spots that don’t get enough coverage, and there are other parts that get way more sun exposure and I feel like the grass dies. I need some help for some ideas on where to move old sprinklers, what types of sprinklers/heads to use, and whatever else to do. Also, I plan on rototilling up the dirt and adding mixing some top soil in before I lay some sod. Some other questions I have are:
1. How long do should I let the dirt sit and pack down before laying the sod?
2. How far below the mow strip should the new soil sit before sod installation?
3. What’s the easiest way to level out the soil?

Pictures are attached of my backyard, the measurements aren’t precise to the inch so don’t break out some math skills and tell me I’m wrong lol. And excuse some of the clutter, been working on a lot of stuff.

Thank you for your time.

Re: Need Help with Sprinkler Layouts

Looks like a rather small yard, so figuring you will be using pop-ups only.
I would first draw up your yard accurately on grid paper. Then, figure out what brand of spray heads you will use and download the specs on how far they will spray. Might try Rainbird or Hunter.

Unfortunately pop-up spray heads are known for having problems covering areas precisely. Certain parts of the pattern always get more or less water, very seldom do they cover their entire area equally. Your best bet is to put in additional heads so that each area is covered by at least 2 heads.

Re: Need Help with Sprinkler Layouts

I guess really the main area i need a better idea for is the longer rectangular portion of the lawn. Right now I have the ‘side-strip’ spray heads that cover a 3’x15’ rectangle, but the edges of the 15’ get a lot less water because the water pretty much mists or blows away.

Joe13......If you have pop-ups there is a screw on top.... to tone down the spray....from a mist to bigger droplets and give the lawn some water in lieu of wafting up and away.
