Installing fence in Winter?

I need to repair my fence since a few areas are starting to lean. I have a tree holding up on of the areas. And a few angled boards holding up other areas. The fence will hold up through winter.

I was wondering if I should replace the whole fence now or wait until springtime. I think the prices are better now, but I would think they would be good all the way through Feb and maybe March. One person mentioned that prices are about 30% cheaper now compared to springtime.

If I do it now, I am worried that I cannot seal or stain the fence until April or so. And the wood might discolor before then.

Is it better to wait, or get it done now?

Do it now so you don't break a sweat and the wood may be dry enough by april to stain.

How long does it take for wood to discolor once the fence is installed? Does it take a year or less if it isn't sealed?

The older fence I have looks grey as does most of the neighbors that didn't seal their fence.

It'll look good for at least six months and the sun angle and length of daylight hours is in your favor. I would do it now.

Well you should not stain it for about 3 months anyway. Best to use a cheap moisture meter to check.

There is no way prices are going to be much different between now and spring.
They gave you bad info.

Around here that's about a year to start discolor. Then a cheap garden sprayer and bleach mixed 50% water and about 7 days and it looks new again.

I guess bleach on the existing fence won't help? I have a gate section that I could possibly bleach but probably have to wait until spring.
