How to kill weeds from coming up through paver blocks?

Location is Miami, Florida.

I have weeds coming up through the paver blocks and is a bit out of control. It didn't use to do this last few years but for some reason, they are coming up left and right.

Any idea what to do?

Use chemicals like Round-Up? Bleach?

Pressure wash?

As I mentioned on the other forum, there are products you could apply to kill the weeds but I want to add I would not use a pressure washer as you could force the media you have between the blocks out and eventually lead to some of them dropping down as a result of their base being eroded.

Never Pressure Wash them, unless you are prepared to re install them.

Those weed killers chemicals are adequate and will work.

Another method is to use a Propane Torch to burn them and their seeds, but be careful not to heat those pavers too much, they can POP out little divots, ruining their appearance.

There is a better product than Roundup, but I am "blanking" on it's name, , it is used in agriculture to kill weeds in a farmers field, they buy it in bulk and spray it with a tank pulled by a tractor.

Anybody remember what that is?

Brand does not matter, what you need to do is read the lable where it shows the amount of active ingredient.
The higher the number the better it works.
What I do is pull the grass and weeds as best I can by the the roots before spraying so I do not see a bunch of dead stuff left behind on top of the walkway.

For long term pre-emergent consider researching soil sterilizers. For short term post emergent application there are several products to consider.

You can control with vinegar but you may eventually get moss because of the acid content.

Every time I have near boiling water left over from potatoes or whatever,
I pour the water on weeds/grass growing between bricks, pavers, etc..
Kills them fast.

Try Ortho Groundclear. I would suggest weedkiller before pulling. If you don't get all the root most weeds will resprout, then you are pulling again.

You can also try some Polymer Jointing Sand...it will solidify when wet and will REDUCE weed growth in the future

Re: How to kill weeds from coming up through paver blocks?

I used to put rock salt down on the brick paved sidewalk outside of a house I lived in up north. People thought I was crackers for salting my sidewalk in the summer... but no weeds. Cheaper and longer lasting than spray.
If that sounds like it will get tracked into the house, or you have pets, probably want to go the ground clear/round up route. Though the torch suggestion may be cheaper still (after the initial investment, of course) and probably just as long lasting.
