How to kill vines?

How do you get rid of virginia creepers, poison ivy, etc. that are entwined in good bushes? You cut one and ten more grow back!

You isolate a few of the leaves and swab with a Q-Tip saturated with a 1.5 oz. of Glyphosate / quart of water mixture. Wait 10 days and repeat the application on any leaves that haven't yellowed.

Sometimes good things take a little longer.

Dig up the roots. It's not easy with big prickly bushes but worth the trouble.

With poison ivy I'd spray it.

A lot of vines hvae very long roots. The best way to really kill them is to cut them off right in the spring after they put out all their winter energy, and then immediately spray / swab the exposed piece you just cut with glyphosate or Round-Up or whatever.

We have a line of trees between our side yard and the road that was completely overrun with bittersweet vines. Took a LOT of work to disentangle everything, but for the most part they haven't come back using that method.

Before and afters attached. Still a work in progress but 1000% better in my mind.
