Home irrigation system -- Is it possible to run all my zones at once?

I have total of six zones and I was wondering if it was possible to run all six zones at once or will I have to cycle through each zone one at a time?

Depends on your controller. Check the instruction manual. Unlikely they would put that feature in though. The reason you have 6 zones is that you are unlikely to be able to supply enough water to run all six zones properly at one time.

You can always turn each valve on manually.

Yes, you're correct there is no setting on the control panel to let the sprinkler system run at once, only one at a time by zones. I noticed two other problems and was wondering if you can help me troubleshoot it--

1) one of my zones does not work- what could be some causes?

2) I noticed that about 1 inch water collected in the valve box-- is this normal?

Zone does not work. If you can manually turn it on, its getting water. Probably it has short leads with wire nuts to the wires going to the controller. Could be connection under wire nuts is bad/corroded. Could be wires are broken where they enter the solenoid valve (from repeated bending). Could even be that solenoid valve is burnt out or stuck. A multimeter could check if valve is getting voltage. Solution to most of those possibilities is replace the valve.

Valve box is below grade, so I suppose it could collect water. But no, that is not normal. Valves should not leak.

How many heads do you have on any given zone?
