I have emerald zoysia in my shaded backyard. I accidentally killed a significant amount with non-selective week killer last fall when I must have been sleepwalking. Makes me want to hit my skull with a hammer.
If I patch the emerald with zenith, am I going to notice a difference? I took a sample of the emerald to the local sod place and dropped it next to some zenith they had growing there, and it was pretty darn hard to tell the texture and color difference. Do they green up/down at the same times?
Is zenith actually heartier than emerald? It's pretty shady back there, sometimes gets pretty soggy after a few days rain, and we occasionally get a week below zero in the winter.
It is usually not very common for the color and texture of different breeds of grass will ever match. Grass grows with the ground temperature not the air temperature so a general rule is yes the will green at the same time.Once established one or the other grass will usually take over through the years and it will not matter.
