Clean pavers before or after installation?

Hey all. I have hundreds of Belgard pavers that I will be laying out for a patio. These pavers have been sitting outside for months and have the typical dirt, algae, water spots, etc., that you would expect when they have been left outside for a while. Is it better to clean these before or after they are installed? Is there a best recommended way to clean them? They are being installed with the typical rock, sand, and polymeric approach. Would soap and water work with a clean push broom for scrubbing after the polymeric has cured? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

If they are still stacked in a pallet pile, the inner ones are not stained.

Clean any stains after installation.

TSP and a scrub brush.

So I installed the pavers. I applied the polymeric sand and it looks like I have some dirt stains that are in the polymeric sand. Not a good look. Any solutions? Apply another thin layer of polymeric after cleaning the entire patio? Special cleaner for the polymeric? I don’t like the look of a new patio that already looks five years old. I would like to fix this. I appreciate the suggestions.

Do you have a picture of what you are saying.

The polymeric stained the pavers, or something got in the polymeric, and got deposited in the spaces between the pavers, or ?

As stated before T S P to clean most patio surfaces.

T S P = Tri-Sodium Phosphate, a cleaner available at most BOX stores, Home depot, Lowes, Menards, etc.

Re: Clean pavers before or after installation?

Our son gave us a bunch of old pavers that he ripped up from his yard.
The one I picked out for our outdoor bar top was stained.

The head knot sanded it with the circular sander, it came out
good...try sanding one and see how it comes out.

edit..I mean stained with dirt and grease etc...

The sand in the joint is stained. Pavers are clean. It looks like dirt was sealed into the top layer of poly.
