This question is as close to landscaping as it is anything else...
I have an iron chiminea right now. It's the style that has screen mesh all the way around. Hard to have a fire on even a slightly breezy day. But more important, it's rusted out so bad that the top half is just about ready to collapse.
I was eyeing the other style of chiminea, where theres only an opening in the front, and the rest is enclosed. I think that style will work well for me. But the one I'm eyeing is clay, not metal. I'm concerned specifically about the clay cracking under intense heat. I do have a tendency to run the fires kinda big and hot. Is cracking going to be an issue? I'd prefer another cast iron one but they are rare and sell super fast when they come up because apparently they are the ones that everyone wants.
I don't like the clay look but I figure I can just hit it with some high heat krylon spray paint and it should be good?
