Christmas lights on spruce tree

I want to install LED xmas lights on this 20 foot spruce tree out in my front yard. Is there any method I can use to avoid damaging the needles? Its a beautiful Hoopsi blue spruce. Maybe its not worth the trouble?

Ayuh,.... Have ya got a 20' fiberglass ladder,..??

Lay it against the tree, 'n send up a lightweight person to string the lights,.....
A heavyweight person or 2 at the ground to move, 'n stabilize the ladder,......

I did just that decades ago, for an ex-ranger Bud of mine,......
I did the climbin',.......

I never thought about resting a fiberglass ladder up against the tree. Sound like a great idea. Only problem is I'm 220 lbs. I'll see if the wife is willing to go up there, lol. Thanks for replying and merry Christmas to you.

Re: Christmas lights on spruce tree

I did one of ours a number of years ago, maybe for a couple of years, and used a step ladder in conjunction with a long pole with an improvised fork on the end and my wife to pay the string out as I laid it where I wanted. Didn't clip anything, just laid them across the boughs. Must have not been all that easy because I don't do it any more, but then there are a lot of things I don't do any more!

With a length of PVC pipe, a T, a 90 ell and a 4" nipple you can build a shepherd's hook type pole to string the lights from the ground.
