Cat in a Tree

Any tricks on getting a very stuck, scared, and weird cat out of a tree? I've tried everything and when we get close to it, it gets all whack and violent.

Re: Cat in a Tree

How high up are you talking?
I don't think the tv version of the fire department coming to the rescue happens all that often, but I bet they do get the calls and they probably will have a local suggestion.

Apparently you can get close so start with securing some food and water up there. If s/he takes the food then perhaps a trap with the same food could be secured in same area.

Re: Cat in a Tree

Cats can climb up, they can climb down. I had one that climbed a 30' tree once and meowed his head off for me to "rescue" him. Risking life and limb (literally) I climbed grabbed him and brought him down, fighting all the way. Next day, back up the tree. I left him there. He was down by supper time.

Cover the violent portion with a bucket while you work on the stuck portion. As soon as that violent critter is free continue to protect yourself with the bucket and it will eventually come out fighting mad and scared.

Is the TV show - America's Funniest Home Videos - still accepting movie clips? Maybe-Maybe not but we wanna see the vid anyway.

Re: Cat in a Tree

I just had that happen. My cat was only 14 feet up. I was willing to pay an off-duty firefighter to get her down. The Firefighter Lt told me that he had never seen a cat skeleton in a tree! He did say they get calls all the time. She came down.

Try a can of tuna Good luck!

Re: Cat in a Tree

I was remembering when I had 5 young US Marines as next-door neighbors.
One scaled a huge tree with no branches to get my cat. If you have a military base near you, there might be a gung-ho guy that would be willing.
