Question

Buying Boulders?

I lied, this isn't about buying boulder, it's about selling them. But this isn't a secret for-sale thread. I'm more looking for some general information. Do people actually buy these sorts of things? What is the going rate for large chunks of rock? These are next to the driveway, feet from the street, so in that sense they should be easy to pluck. But I have no way to move or transport or life them into a buyers pickup myself.

The small one is about 18" x 18" x 24"
The large one is about 24" x 24" x 30"

Any thoughts? As you can see they are also very much dug out so someone that has the means should be able to pluck these out easy enough.

Re: Buying Boulders?

Really want them gone?
Stick them on Craig's list under materials, Farm and Garden, and Free if you really want them gone.
You live right next door to the Granite State and there's lot's of stones like that just laying on the edge of the fields at any farm, so boulders like that are not hard to find nearby, there only worth what someone's willing to pay which may not be much because of the work involved to get them out of there.
A couple of people could roll those up a landscape ramp onto a trailer, or using a short loop and loop nylon strap and an engine hoist could get them up into a pickup pretty easy.

Re: Buying Boulders?

Those sell for about $20.00 a ton, so you won't get much for them.

As stated a free listing gets them gone.

Or better still put a $5.00 price tag on them by the curb, they will disappear overnight. People can't resist stealing something that someone else wants to sell.
A couple of healthy teenagers with a pickup could remove them for you if they are willing.

Re: Buying Boulders?

Have you calculated the weight if considering those may weigh similar to concrete?

Re: Buying Boulders?

I had them listed at "make me an offer" for like 2 days, then I realized I just want them gone so I posted them for free instead. If I can get them gone soon, I could fill in that spot with dirt and plant some grass. That said, if anyone is in Boston and wants some free boulders, message me :D
