Buried Cable

I'm doing a project that involves some digging and I ran into some cables at about 2 feet deep. I had the area marked and I shouldn't be near anything according to the flags.

What do you do in this situation?

Re: Buried Cable

Hand dig only and avoid them.

Re: Buried Cable

There could be more buried lines/cables in that area. There could be a free utility locator in your area. Dial 811, perhaps ?

Re: Buried Cable

The locator service marked the area on Wednesday. There are no flags near where I found this cable.

Re: Buried Cable

Just because they aren't marked doesn't mean they aren't there if you found out. Quite possibly they are old abandoned cables assuming your home is older. Your best bet is to call marking company again and have them come out and identify them. Also efficacy earlier dig my hand around them until you can confirm what they are.

Re: Buried Cable

The marking company called out the phone company and they confirmed they were abandoned phone lines.
