Bot new house - part Fescue, part Bermuda lawn

Hi - we have a large lot with majority fescue. Though bermuda grass seems to taking over the lawn. Spoke with few folks and they advised that there's no way to remove bermuda.. eventually it will takeover the lawn. Need help, we'd like to retain fescue or some type which remains green year around.

Thanks, manud

Ayuh,..... Before ya start worrin' 'bout the type of grass ya got, ya gotta deal with the drainage issues covered in this thread, 'n yer garage thread,...

My guess is, the lawns will need to be destroyed, 'n re-done, After the drainage isues are dealt with, so you can plant, or sod with whatever grass type ya want, Then,...

Only one option. You use roundup and kill the lawn where ever there is bermuda.
Then plant fescue.
When you do this depends on what area of the country you live in. Again not enough info.

If you keep the bermuda it will be green in summer then in winter can seed in rye grass which will green then turn brown in summer.

But again depends on where you live

There is a trick to encourage an invasive species to take over when you have cool and warm season grasses where you water and fertilize only during the time the desired grass is growing and the other is dormant. In this case, you would water and fertilize in the fall and spring but not the summer. Whether it will keep a grass from being overtaken by an invasive species I do not know.
