I recently purchased new dark furniture and I already have a dark entertainment center. The room room itself is out of date! Any ideas on the window?! Wood paneling??
Thanks!!

Paint it EGGSHELL.

This accents the dark furniture.

Bigger window.

WTB pictures!

Lighter color on the walls is a good call, but I wouldn't limit yourself to white/cream unless you really want that. Yellow is awesome behind dark wood IMO and really "happy's" up a room, a khaki or tan with dark wood is a bit more "formal" without being "boring" per say. A light blue or a teal behind dark wood can give a natural/tropical/spring feel depending on the shade. Maybe paint the main focal wall a festive red (or other "shocking" accent color) and the rest in cream/white.

I'd personally say that wood paneling is outdated, instead I'd look at 3d wall panels if you don't want the typical flat/boring wall ( https://www.amazon.com/s?k=3d+wall+p...f=nb_sb_noss_1 )

If you want something a bit more traditional without being "boring and flat" I think wainscotting is always in style. I'd do white wainscot to set off your dark furniture and a color on the upper part of the walls to bring in your "feel" (fun, funky, traditional, bright, etc.)

----

It's hard to say on the window without pictures and knowing what the room is. I'm keen on not having window coverings at all personally, but that doesn't work for everyone. I like flat window treatments that blend into the room so I typically do straight hanging curtains that go all the way to the floor or blinds under a cornice...

I really like carved foam cornices:

and "harder" fabric valances as well:

If you want a "softer" look then I think asymmetric curtains are the "in" thing on that front. I'd stop the short side at about the middle of the window and run the long side to the floor, you can also add a smaller swag of a second color or impactful pattern over the top at the opposite angle to spice it up.

If you're into "modern" or "abstract" something like this is a real winner

If you post some pics of the room, as well as more details, we could
then be more helpful.

How many windows do you have, and how much natural lighting
do these windows provide? Do you have carpeting or
hardwood floors? What about the upholstered furniture, is it
light or dark?

You say out of date...maybe itís not...certainly itís not out of date if
you like it.
