Re: taping transition from CB to drywall

Are you saying the tile ends right on the joint, or does the tile go onto the DW a bit?

Re: taping transition from CB to drywall

I usually tile to the ceiling around the tub or shower, and use thinset then redguard over the horizontal seams. Vertical seams I use compound, redguard to the edge of tile. If tub is 30" wide, I usually tile 36" then drop down to about 5' high for 8' ceiling bathroom. The vertical joint is usually not where you get water damage. Compound is only finish material that you can sand to smooth paint finish.
