I am planning on re-modelling our main stairway. Pic 1 is the current state of affairs, pic 2 is what we would like them to look like.
If everything goes to plan I have a pretty good idea of what to do, but it is the unexpected that usually lays waste to what I think should happen. Does anyone have any advice as to the things that could potentially trip me up? Given that we need to go up and down these stairs to get to bedrooms / bathrooms etc I don't want the stairs to be out of action for too long!
If you draw that line down thru the center of the clock you might consider leaving that piece of wall to the left. your two posts there might work but hard to say until you get in there and see what the framing of the floor above looks like. You have left the other post in. You will likely find that the pieces you want to remove were added last as it was just cheaper than doing what you want to do.
