Shower floor hot mop

Contractor remodeled my shower (wall, floor glass etc...). After the demolition and before starting any work they put in a hot mop and tested it that it would hold the water (it did). Now they have messed up on the shower floor and it needs to be redone. Is there any danger to my hot mop by having them rip out the floor tiles and retiling it? Any suggestions on what to be on the look out for. I am not a SME but want to be able to make sure that this is being done properly.

Re: Shower floor hot mop

is home made shower pan sloped to drain?

if tearing out I would expect another water test be done
so as to not just assume shower *pan* is (still) good.

Peace

Re: Shower floor hot mop

Hot mopping is really old school. I would have them come in and do a proper preslope/slope with pvc liner. Pictures would help, too.

Re: Shower floor hot mop

Real....are you in California?

Hot mop is still popular in California....yea, it might be 'old school'....but it's still a good system, especially for odd size shower pans.

Real...on top of that hot mop is a mortar base. If they are pulling up the tile, your mortar base should be fine.

Both of my new showers are hot mop.....it was $500 for both. No way you could have use prefab pans....my showers are anything but normal. Shulter would have been about 3x the cost
