Question

running old 12 Guage hot and neutral wire through a 10" header

Doing a kitchen remodel and have to install a 10" header with a light underneath. This old house has nob and tube wiring and has one hot and one neutral wire run separately through the top plate into the wall from the attic. Can I put the individual wires through the header sandwich [there is a 1/2" gap through which I can run the wire to the light fixture and then run romex to a switch and outlet] . Or should I be going up into the attic, making a junction box where I would join the old nob and tube hot and neutral to romex or wire in BX cable and pull the BX cable through the header through the header?

The experts will be here soon. You cannot extend nob and tube.
