Polished Marble floors & Grout~

I did not put any sealer on my 12 x 12 polished carrara white bathroom tiles, my question is should they be sealed to prevent them from absorbing the wet grout which is supposed to be placed tomorrow~
Any help would be greatly appreciated~ Thank you

Re: Polished Marble floors & Grout~

To be safe, you should. Get them clean, then dry, and then apply the sealer and wait the recommended time. Sanded grout will remove some of what you have applied, but it will minimize any staining. By the time the floor is grouted and buffed it will need a couple more coats of sealer. Some tile is polished and sealed already, so it is hard to say for sure. If it's only a bathroom, not several hundred square feet, not a big deal to do.

Sanded grout should not be used with marble tile - the marble is so soft the sand can scratch it.

Re: Polished Marble floors & Grout~

Thank you much for the replies, my "Contractor" refused to seal the marble & said if he didn't grout right then so he could set the commode in place he was leaving to another job and would be back in 2 weeks. I let him grout, but would not let him set the commode, especially after the tile guy said not to walk on it for at least 24hrs.

Really upset & don't know how to deal with this situation. He has already been paid. Said if he was paid once the floor was completed he would bring in more help to get the job finished by the end of the week & I trusted him. Now I have a bathroom with nothing but a floor & shower. Oh, & the shower door was custom made and will be another 2 weeks also. That is if I ever get to see the finished product.

I Pray it will get finished, a girl without a bathroom is not a good thing!

Find a plumber to set the the toilet, and inform the contractor that you will back-charge him the cost of the install unless he gets out there to do it before the plumber. Notify him in writing, an email works.
