Permacolor Select help

First time I used Permacolor grout and wow what a pain! For those who don't know Permacolor Select you need to buy a color kit where you disolve a color packet in water first then mix with grout base. I followed this to a tee and it was not the consistency of grout I've used in the past. In past I try to get it to a peanut butter consistency so it floats into crevices this was much dryer.

Started grouting and it was extremely hard to move across sub way tile then the worst part dried in record time making the wiping off with sponge part painful.

I am using their measuring jug so as they are concerned am using the correct amount of water.

Curious if anyone has run into, am I doing something wrong? I was told to use cold water with color packet, which I did and I am thinking of using more water but will this change the color?

I knew I should have used a pre-mixed grout but wife was adamant.

I appreciate any and all help
