Kitchen countertop replacement with granite

I am researching what the total cost would be to replace my current kitchen countertops with granite.
Am looking at replacing a total of 60 square feet and understand there are extra expenses involved in addition to the price of the granite and installation.

Can someone who has had such a renovation project tell me

the approximate cost to expect for the removal of the old countertops

the appr cost of removing and reinstalling the old sink (perfectly good only 4 years old

the appr cost of removing and reinstalling the stove top (ditto)

Thanks for your help

Provlima.....

You're not getting responses as we have no idea where you live or your local markets., or the extent and complications involved in your the job.

You could live in Quimache New Mexico or the top of the 666's. Likely a material price difference.

But generally, removing cabinet tops and disposing your sink should not be to pricey..... guess at 10-15% of your granite costs.

Now coming back and saving your sink and reinstalling....?????

You can get fabricators / installers to quote you those pricies. You'll get a lot better indication from an on sight local person.

Here on LI, NY...the cost per foot of granite includes making the
template, cutting the sink opening, installation of the granite,
mounting the sink (plumbing not included) and a plain rounded edge.
If you want a fancy edge like an ogre edge -- that is extra.

Do you have an undermount sink? You'll want one if you don't.
Also, they take your sink and sink template to cut the sink opening
at the stone yard.

They glue down all the granite...hint, I didn't let them glue down the pieces on
either side of my stove -- so that I could slide them over slightly to clean
between the stove and granite.

Also, just a rounded edge makes the granite look thicker,
an ogre edge makes the edge look thinner.

Edit...before they came to do the template, we removed our countertop.
and sink..
after they left we cliff-rigged a piece of counter and re-installed
our old sink so that I had a working sink
while waiting for the counters
to be installed.

Re: Kitchen countertop replacement with granite

Your mileage may vary on the cost, circumstances, materials, configuration, and all other misc factors.

My advise would be measure the current countertops and then either visit a local design center or even your local big boxes to get an estimate on the project. DON'T FORGET a backsplash if you want one.

In my case, I recently replaced my kitchen counters with quartz. The fabricator DOES NOT remove the old counters. That fell on me. I was OK with that.

I already had purchased a new cast iron double bowl drop in sink. The template guy noted the make and model number of the sink and noted it on the work order.

At installation, because of the size and configuration the counters arrived in 3 pieces. So they had to bond the pieces on site. The drop in sink could not be installed the same day to allow the epoxy to set up and cure. Especially because the sink sat in the middle section of slab.

Lot's of things to consider when doing a "simple" replacement.
