house building comparisons

I am doing some work for a derveloper who has hired a contractor for a previous house build but thinks the contractor has over billed him. My question is; is there a way to get a variety of estimates for the same house plan? I could do the requests from various suppliers however, I'd like to know if there is a better way to compare apples to apples. Thanks for whatever input you could provide.

Nope----there are to many variable in bidding a new house build--and several types of contracts---

Turn key is the most predictable---Cost plus is another type--and should only be used when you know and trust the contractor very well---

There is no magic way to bid a house build---dozens of hours go into making the bid---some contractors charge you for a bid----

one framing crew can come in why less than another depending on how they frame. some crews do the absolute bare minimum to pass inspection and get in and out quick as possible. other crews focus on quality and frmae homes with dead straight lines, super structered and will warrenty their work. the first will come in really low priced where as the other can be upwards of double
