Grout in tiles

I'm trying to fix my 1946 bathroom. I pulled the wallpaper, but they put paper in prior to tiling the tub. Then they used what I assume is grout to fill between the end tiles and the wall. I think that is normally supposed to be silicone right? In any case they got a bunch on the tiles too. I don't plan on redoing the bath or tiles. Any ideas on how I can get it off? Do I need to try to remove the grout where silicone should go next to the wall? Thanks.

Re: Grout in tiles

Also this section of wall just pulled off easily. Can I just fix that with mud?

Re: Grout in tiles

Yes, you can fix that with mud---I suggest 20 minute 'easy sand'---

Silicone should NOT be used where the tile meets the painted wall---paint will not stick to 100% silicone---use a good painters caulk or a grout color match caulk.
