framing a window

I want to frame a new window opening in my upstairs bedroom.I will be taking out a set of patio doors that lead to a second story deck, framing in a window opening, installing some plywood sheathing, and replacing vinyl siding and interior drywall. If there is already a 75 in opening for the patio doors, do I need to add a header? Is it necessary to get an inspection for any of this work? Thanks, Mark

No one knows where you live since you did not add it to your profile, so we'll guess yes on the permit.
There should already be a header in place so, no need to add another one. A couple of 2 X 4's laying flat and a king and jack stud will give you the needed surface area to attach the window and the trim.
When posting in forums, letting us know your location will help others give better feedback/advice/solutions to your questions
