Quick question on ditra install in a basement. I have a concrete slab floor that structurally is in good shape. The downside is that there is drylok installed and some of it is flaking off. Is it possible to install ditra over the drylok after cleaning up all the loose areas? Planning on tiling about 300sf in this area. Thanks in advance!
That's not a very good plan Judd. I think you should do it right and remove the paint.
Now, let's see. Drylok is intended where water in coming in the walls. **I don't recall, but I don't think it's supposed to be used on floors in the first place. I might be wrong. And of course, don't forget to do all the moisture tests required once you see bare concrete.
** I was wrong, they do have one for floors. BUT I think it's never a good idea to paint floors. Stain yes, if you know you'll never want to bond anything to it again. Too late in this case however.....
