Re: Desperate for a fix for my stair railing requirement
I should have mentioned to get the post to fall in the right place on this staircase the second (upper) tread and riser need to be notched into which really isnít the end of the world. The orange block your using to show the size of the post should fall approximately, but not quite, inside the blue tape, itís hard to exactly tell you where from the pics. To finish the cavity produced to house the post to an acceptable professional look requires some skill, if it was easy everyone would be doing it. Iíve installed railings for over twenty years this really isnít that big of a deal. On a wooden staircase using whatís called a double gooseneck would get you from the first line of flight to the second. There are over the post systems for the handrail that keep the rail continuous that would look good with this application. Best of luck finding a competent installer.
