Ceiling ideas for home remodel

We are remodeling my grandmothers home. The ceilings are like shiplap solid wood. However not all rooms have the wood running the same direction. Kitchen, dining room, smaller bedroom, master bath do run the same direction, but the master bedroom and living room do not.
We have left the bathroom as is because is was wider wood and rustic and awesome in my opinion. But due to the misdirection, my husband is not on-board with leaving the whole house with the natural wood ceiling.

Neither of us want sheet rock or drywall, we are thinking of pine panels maybe or something using wood. The house was originally built in the 1930s and then added onto twice.

Any ideas or experiences?
Please share.

Make notes about how you plan to renovate your home.

As you work on a budget with a builder, ask the firm to supply a breakdown.

Vinyl ceiling tiles can be stuck up - make sure you do research on fire-ratings (no styrene). Tin tiles are so pretty but not cheap. Not sure this is in keeping with the look of your home - pics?

Check with your local codes on fire rating. Most places want to see at least a 5/8" drywall on ceilings for this purpose.

The direction of the pieces may be following the longer sides of the room?
If you like it, then leave it alone. You will never match rest of the house.
But sheetrock and pro plaster finish (unpainted) may give you the old house feel.
