Remove Ker121 from wood veneer (maple) stair riser

Hi,

I want to know what would be the best product to remove stains left from polymer modified thin-set (mapei's ker121) that have spilled on my maple veneer stair riser when I installed a Ditra.

I tried water and vinegar and it doesn't seem to work.

I know that for my real maple wood stair I'll be able to sand it but don't know for the thin veneer.

Note that the riser is not stained/varnished yet so I can work hard on it (it will be stained a light gray color).

Any clue?

Thanks
