Leveling chair legs

Need to make bottom of chair legs parallel to floor. I'll be placing felt on the bottoms and want to eliminate the current pressure point. Looking for an easy way to trim legs evenly, hoping to prevent having to visit each leg multiple times to get chair sitting on all legs evenly.

Re: Leveling chair legs

Put something on the floor like a thin book or magazine and draw a line around the leg.
Then trim with saw or belt sander to the line.

Re: Leveling chair legs

I'd opt for something longer like a strip of plywood or lattice and scribe the line on 2 legs at one time.

Re: Leveling chair legs

If you have an oscillating tool, take a piece of scrap 1/4" wood, and drill about a 1 inch hole through it. Put the jig on each leg, and cut into the leg with the oscillating tool, all round, but not all the way through. When you have started cuts on all 4 legs, turn the chair over and finish the cuts.

Re: Leveling chair legs

Turn the chair upside down on a level surface.

Use a rotating laser level setup in the cage, between the legs, mark your lines on each leg.

Then cut each leg with your favorite saw.

But they do make feet for this purpose with swiveling glides.

After what ever you do and they are not all the same. tape a 50 grit paper to the floor and adjust by hand.
