Door Jamb odd size. Where do I buy it?

Hey all, im trying to hang a pre-hung interior door. So i went to Home Depot to get a 30"x78" pre-hung door and some other materials. When i got home to fit the door in the slot, i realized the door jamb is way to wide. It seems that all the doors Home Depot sells have a 4-9/16" door jamb, i need a 3-5/8" door jamb. Anyone know if Home Depot or Lowes sell them? I looked on Home Depot's website most of which have a 4-9/16 door jamb. Any help is appreciated.

Disassemble the jamb, cut it a heavy sixteenth over size to allow for planing/sanding the sawmarks off, reassemble and install. Add casing.

Done.

Note: do not cut off the hinge side. You need that as a full size to allow for the hinge gains as they are from the factory.

I am not in the capacity to disassemble, cut, and reassemble the door jam.

But thank you.

Might have to "special order" one for your application.

How much do you think something like that would cost?

If you have not damaged the one that you bought, return it, and maybe pay up to 25% more.

I hope that you have not cut or nailed the first one.

Go to a real lumber yard. They can order a door with whatever size jamb you want. Just did that for a recent job. I needed 5 1/2" jambs. Cost $20 more per door. For Home Depot to special order anything it's usually more money, and a 50/50 chance they screw it up.

The old established lumber stores around here have a wood working shop in them. A person could drop the door jamb set off to them and they would rip it down to fit. May cost $35.00 but hey, just what is stress reduction worth ? JMO

4-9/16" .? You mean 4-1/2" .?

If you live in a mobile home and need a 3-1/2" Wide x 78" Tall door jamb, you must go to a place that sells them.
If not, then you will have to alter the one from HD.
