Question

Cedar wood Fencing

I have a cedar wood fence that's been in place for about 2 years. It's now got that grey hue to it that we were hoping for.
Unfortunately I splashed a couple of the panels when I was pressure hosing in the yard. I decided that it would be a "good idea" to pressure hose the rest of the panel to give it an all over colour which led to me pressure hosing a half dozen of the panels before I stopped.
These panels are all an orange/pine colour. Does anyone know if they will ever return to the grey colour as before or have I damaged them for good?

Re: Cedar wood Fencing

The wood greying is from it being exposed to weather without any protective coating. The grey is nature's preservative coating. It will return with time.

Thanks for speedy response. It's been a few weeks since I blasted the panels and they're still orange coloured. Hope you're right and in a couplevof months they tone down again to the soft grey colour we wanted. Thanks again

Re: Cedar wood Fencing

You can chemically age them faster, with something sold at the BOX store.

But it might be harmful to any plants nearby.

Do a search for wood aging, and or bleaching.

Each and everyone has different tastes, I personally hate that grey ugly wood fencing, but that is me.

Re: Cedar wood Fencing

It will probably take more than a few months for the grey to return. I've applied those bleaching stains in the past and they do work but I've never used it to just do one portion hoping it would match another [not saying it won't work just that I've not done that]

Re: Cedar wood Fencing

It took your fence two years to achieve the color you just removed, it's not likely it will return in just two months.
