yeah +1 on just attach it to the baseboard. 1 to 1 1/2" is a big gap for the drywall to be raised above the floor, especially if just one bottom plate. Hopefully your baseboard is at least 5 1/4" high, if not you would need a backer to match the drywall thickness to prevent the baseboard from angling in at the bottom.

Its Speed Base... 7 1/4 high. There is a double bottom plate so it is covering the top one. Partial of the bottom exposed. But you guys are saying to use shorter Nails then I can do that.

I would have put something to fill the space with something like plywood but to late I guess.

To each his own, but I prefer to use Banak shoe molding in a wood grain rather than painted.


To me, it looks like a better transition.
