![]() Basic shelf help
I just installed cat tunnel into garage (see pic) that leads into kennel for litter box. I am on my way to Home Depot in a few minutes to buy lumber with which to build simple stand for kennel, and could use some help, as I am a new DIYer. I'd like to build shelf that I could put a storage tub under. Ideas greatly appreciated on what lumber to buy. I want it to look nice, e.g., with recessed bolts vs nails or screws, but am not sure how to do this. I have most power tools (circ. saw, drill). Thanks in advance for ideas, and for bearing with me on such a simple post

material wise i would pickup a lenght of laminated pine shelving. it will have plenty of strength if properly supported. it will cost a few dollars more than mdf or melamine... mdf has strength but doesnt mix well with moisture... melamine is weak and cant handle exposure to moisture either
