Re: Less expensive, reliable substitute for HP Ink?

Those HP prices are killers! When I had Inkjets, I would wait for the sales (only like twice a year) or other minimum purchase freebies. Read too many stories about the cheap knockoffs not being read by the printer and never lasting the stated # pages, and all the cartridge-refill brick-n-mortar stores have gone out of business.

I finally had it with the cost of HP cartridges and bought an Epson Ecotank printer. Bought at Christmas last year and black tank is still half full. We do a good deal of printing.

I have 2 HP's that were still working when I gave up, switched to B/W Cannon laser copier. I would like to get a color printer and have considered the "no cartridge" printers with refillable ink tanks. I'll never get another ink cartridge rip off again.

I had an inkjet for a while and used it so seldom the ink always dried up on me. Laser printer works for me since I only have to print in B&W.

Re: Less expensive, reliable substitute for HP Ink?

We had a Canon colour inkjet. We didn't use it a whole lot but never had a cartridge dry out, but I got tired of the ink prices. I heard enough bad stories of non-OEM ink that I was always reluctant to try them. I seriously considered going with Epsom but they are pricey and seemed never on sale. I ended up getting a Canon colour laser on a great sale - still using the toner it came with. They might fall down on actual photos but are decent for simply images. For the few times we actual want to make a photo quality print I take a stick up to the local printing service.

I use these for our inkjet printer - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Haven't had any problems with them personally. I know some of the newer models of printers can tell if they're not HP inks, but I don't know when they started doing that.

What model did you buy?

Anything you don't like about it?

Why not Laser?

Epson Expression ET-2650 EcoTank Wireless Color All-in-One Small Business Supertank Printer with Scanner and Copier

$300 from Amazon

Absolutely no issues.

All the color lasers I have seen are to big for the space I have and I wanted to get away from expensive cartridges.

Re: Less expensive, reliable substitute for HP Ink?

I haven't been selling (or using) Inkjets for over 10 Years. Use and offer my Customers Color Laser jets only. If the insist on Inkjets, they can buy them but not from me.
The prices on Inkjet cartridges are outrageous, and Laser Cartridges last ten times longer. Even for the Lasers, I do not buy the expensive HP Cartridges, I buy aftermarket. Had very few problems with them.
And let's not even mention that the Inkjets dry out if not used every day.

No, Color Laserjets aren't Photo friendly, matter of fact you'll ruin the Laserjet printer if you use Photo paper in them.
I upload my Pictures to Costco online, and by the Time I pull in their Parking-lot, they are done, at 17 cents per picture.
Who can beat that?

I'm with RJ.....Best investment I ever made

I have the ET-3750....at sale at Costco....and I have had EXTENSIVE PRINTING over the last year (some pending litigation)....and it has worked FLAWLESSLY.

I don't even think of the price of ink. Easy to refill...has a good ADF....and other full features.

Actually, I don't understand how Epson makes money on it.

Screw HP.....

Good luck ....

Re: Less expensive, reliable substitute for HP Ink?

I have used every sub $200 printer on the market. Every single one has failed me miserably... Typically they end out back....

My current one shall go nameless, so it doesnt misbehave...

Every printer SUCKS
