Spherical Bearing Question

I have a question for someone who might be a millworker, or industrial mechanic.

I have a used NTN 24024B spherical roller bearing, and requiring a new one. It has an 4 11/16" bore and 7" outer diameter. It weights about 11.5 lbs.

This is a BIG bearing.....It's out of a Pettibone pipe carrier.

Anyone have a ballpark idea of what these cost new?

Re: Spherical Bearing Question

It comes from a Pettibone Pipe Handler.

I suspect it's one of the wheel bearings....I also suspect the bearing is worth a few grand

Re: Spherical Bearing Question

Not sure how it works up there, but in the US any city has places that sell power transmission products far cheaper then buying from the equipment dealer.
There often listed under "Bearings" in the yellow pages.
SPS-1 and Power- like this.

Re: Spherical Bearing Question

There may be some ID numbers etched onto that bearing somewhere. Go to a bearing dealer, not the vehicle manufacturer for better prices.

Re: Spherical Bearing Question

I know this is not your "off-the-shelf" bearing.....

The numbers etched on it are the ones I mentioned in the original post. No other numbers (other than "JAPAN") are on the bearing.

Like joecaption suggested, I will go down to TSL, Transmission Supply Limited. They seem this kind of stuff.

Thanks All !!!

I would have thought a bearing that size is normally a couple/few hundred dollars. Having said that, I don't think you have a particularly common part number, could be higher price.

Re: Spherical Bearing Question

This site has a ca version instead of the B version for between $55-$60. I don't know what the difference is.

Re: Spherical Bearing Question

100% sure on that part #?
I tried the NTN website to do a cross over and it would not come up.

Re: Spherical Bearing Question

If you have a business, you might be able to get it from BDI (wholesale only).

Cheers!
