question about a youtube video


i was watching a youtube video and saw something interesting which gave me a question, ill post a link to the video to show what im talking about and my question will be under the link:



would that work to make mini turning chisels? would the chisels be safe to use or would they risk breaking and having pieces fly off and hitting somebody?

Not all nails are created equal and would need a correct carbon % for heat treating to be of much value in creating turning chisels. A class of steel commonly called tool steel would be close to what you're looking for.

interesting, can it be heated to a malleable temp the same way or would i need something hotter?

i watch a lot like that, some have people making really detailed craft stick houses with joists, studs, only thing i dont see are the rafters but i guess they figure its not needed(id like to see rafters in them), some have people making tiny little meals that only tom thumb could get full on, using real food cut down to scale, and some have people making tools like table saws out of a motor, bottle cap or computer housing(blade) and popcicle sticks
