New Gate

fab'ing a new side gate. all TIG.
will add a sheet metal back tomorrow, and then some branches and leaves will extend from the bottom on up. the two peaks are "mountains". the arc'd piece was a pita, i dont have a ring bender so i use the slice and bend method, just a pita to fill in the cuts with TIG. the door handle hole is just for a dead bolt, will weld on a iron gate handle. i need to grind down the welds too. once completed it will get sand blasted, natural rust finish, and then poly coated. all 1.5"sq 16ga tubing. the extra space on the latch side is on purpose, i'll hide that gap with a strip of steel. both block columns were not perfectly plumb so i left some extra room in there, etc.

it is certainly not a plain-ol gate, but not exactly unique. found a pic of it (smaller gate) on a gate website, basically just replicating, etc.

Ayuh,.... That's cool,....

I'm sorta replicatin' a ceilin' light for the Boss's new house for his wife,...
It'll be over the dining room table,...

This, is the inspiration, a single unit, not 3, built outa found junk,...

So far, I've cut, 'n pounded some ole galvanized tin into the upper 1/2s of it,....
I used 3/8" brake lines I threaded the ends on for the bottom 1/2s,...

On the bottom, all are joined by a little tinbox the Boss used to buy some kinda breath mints in, to feed the wires through from the overhead, 'n out the brake lines to the lights,...
The overhead connection at the ceilin' will be hidden by an ole bakin' tin, with another brake line runnin' down to the breath mint tinbox,....

Once painted, it oughta look pretty cool,...
Not refined like the ones in the link, but more artsy,....

Considerin' the wife is a singer/ song writer,... Artsy is what she wants,....
