Cutting hardware cloth

I need to cut some 1/2" hardware cloth into a few longish strips (6' to 9'). I could do it with tin snips, but that would be tedious. The first thing that occurs to me that would be easier is an abrasive blade in my skil saw. Is that a good approach?

I might also need to move up to 1" hardware cloth or 16 gauge welded-wire fencing. How would you best cut that?

Re: Cutting hardware cloth

I've always used tin snips or aviation shears. I'd be concerned that the blade might try grab/rip some of the wire along with the cut.

Re: Cutting hardware cloth

The abrasive blade should work. If it comes in a roll as often does, I would some way clamp it between a couple of 1x4's to flatten, use a straight edge as saw guide and set the saw depth just enough to cut the wire thickness. Let us know what works for you. I need to cut a couple of pieces myself.
