trouble starting Speeco 212cc engine

I have a 2yr old, brand new, speeco 212cc on my son's go kart, bought the motor new 2 yrs ago, rode it maybe 1/4 mile, then go kart was stored since then, this week we tried to start it, it is getting sparkplug fire, only way it will crank is to pour gas directly into carb, then it cranks, runs for about 2 seconds and goes dead, tried this about 4 times, have tried cranking with choke on, choke off, choke 1/2 on, everything, my brother wants to take the carb off and disassemble it and clean, I don't think this should be nessceary for a motor that has only been run a total of maybe 5 minutes, help, please thank you, kevin rainey

If he has an untrasonic cleaner or knows someone that does tell him to go for it. Otherwise small orifices that may be plugged with fuel varnish residue are difficult to identify when plugged and often don't get cleaned and leads to more frustration.

Your brother is right.
Fuel starts to go bad in less then 6 months.
Ethenal fuel will distroy diaphrams, fuel lines, corrode metal, and form a gummy material in the fuel bowl from sucking up moisture from the air.
I run nonethenal in all my power equipment, when getting ready to store it I add A fuel stablizer and let it run out of fuel.
Carb. needs to be rebuilt and cleaned, and the old fuel dump out and tank flushed out.

Ayuh,.... By yer explanation, it ain't gettin' any gas,...

Listen to yer brother,...

You should never leave fuel in a motor left to sit a long time,....
Ethanol fuel sucks, draws water outa the air, 'n corrodes carb parts,...
