John Deere Commercial Walk Behind Loose wire/won't start

I have a mid 1990's model John Deere 48" commercial walk behind mower with a 14 hp Kawasaki engine. I was mowing some rougher ground the other day and I when I went to restart it, I couldn't. I found a loose wire underneath the deck. This has happened twice before. Once, I didn't know what the problem was, took it in to a repair shop and they said there was a loose ground or kill wire. It happened again a couple of years ago and I was able to find a loose wire underneath and reconnect it. This time I can find one end of the wire and plug, but I cannot for the life of me find where it is supposed to attach. I've attached a few pictures showing the path of the wire and the loose end. Anyone have any ideas?

Look for a plug on the transmission. It is probably a clutch interface switch.

It is two-wire so most likely a safety kill rather than a ground. I like WoW's clutch safety suggestion but it could be a number of things. Think about the conditions that have to exist for it to start and what's in physical range of the plug.
