chainsaw fuel mix

I have an old johnsereds 49 sp. wonder if anyone might know what the correct fuel/oil ratio is. The manual doesn't say. And I have looked online and find a variety of answers from 32:1, 40:1, 50:1 etc. This saw is over 40 years old and I was told many years ago to run 16:1, that seems like a lot of oil as most modern saws seem to run a 50:1. But the 16:1 is what I have always used and never really had problems. Anyway, just though you all may have the real answer. Thanks.

If you never had any problems, that is the real answer.

Re: chainsaw fuel mix

Ayuh,..... I've got saws that run the ages, back to the very early '70s anyways,.....

I run 'em All on the same gas mix, the little plastic bottles of Stihl oil, per the gallons stated on the bottle,....
'n I usually buy the bottles for 1 gallon,.....

I buy only ethanol free gasoline, 'n don't wanta buy too much at any 1 time, so's to keep it Fresh,......
oh,..... I always throw in a splash of Sta-bil when buyin' that gallon too,......
