Can anyone recognize this Yardman Lawnmower part?

We bought this mower from Walmart couple years ago.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Yard-man-...Mower/34227500

The rope starter mechanism has failed and after taking it apart we realized we're missing one of the these "latches"?

Is this an actual part? or just some crude piece of metal?

After you order your dog and spend hours cursing trying to wind the rope, you can buy the whole housing for a few dollars more, or go to a boneyard and get a used housing.

I can do a lot of things, but winding the spring coil and getting the rope to recoil properly is a challenge for me. "BOING"

It has also been known to make someone dispose of the mower, lol.

I tend to agree with Ztman. You can probably buy the entire starter cord assembly using the engine number. Ebay is a great place for used parts.
