Stone Veneer Issue

Hi,

We are trying to install a stone veneer on the lower part of our house (exterior) and are having issues. We have a scratch coat and are buttering the backs of the stone with mortar but they just won't stick. We have tried a number of different consistencies with the mortar but it keeps falling. I have taken to wearing a hardhat as I try to put this stuff on because I never know when a piece is going to fall. LOL! At this rate, I will never get the job done.

I'm wondering if there is a construction adhesive that has been developed recently that would work for the job? I have heard of people having success with adhesive indoors.

Thanks.

Re: Stone Veneer Issue

What kind of stone, cultured stone and natural sawn veneer?

Cultured stone is generally too rough to stick with adhesive, and I personally wouldn't trust it for an entire application. THere's a reason you won't find it in any stone manufacturer's directions.

What kind of mortar are you using?
