Repairing a concrete step: how to?

Posting a lot lately...sorry!

Just moved into a new home and christened it by backing the moving truck into the front step and a chipping out a small chunk of concrete. Photo attached. It's quite small...3-4" around.

How difficult would this be to fix on my own? Would I just use something like Quikrete? Not sure how I'd create the form/mold to make the straight edges on the sides. Don't want it to look like something I did myself so not sure if I'm better off just paying a professional...but it's an awfully small repair.

TIA

Re: Repairing a concrete step: how to?

Just looking at some pics online of folks doing a similar repair using quikrete, they don't use a form to make the straight edge. Guess the quikrete is firm enough to mold into shape?

Looks like quikrete will be a different color than what the step is. Guess that's unavoidable.

You will do better if you form it, also drive a couple of tapcons into the field to hold it.

like woody's suggestion of tapcons to help keep repr in place,,, its impossible to match existing color

Yeah, maybe think about staining the entire thing too.

Unless you want the constant reminder of your folly.

The toxins will act as a kinda of rebar but won't they rust and cause failure? Maybe stainless screws?

don't think tapcons're toxic to conc :-) bear in mind we've only used 'em for 15yrs or so in small reprs such as describ'd by op,,, translucent stain won't hide difference in underlying conc color,,, opaque stain's another name for paint (imo)

Who's your steel suppliers? There are steels that works really good on support on concrete. Additional reinforcement is very helpful in securing these steps.
