Paver patio but weather not cooperating

I began to excavate for a paver patio right next to my house a month and a half ago. I have the general outline dug out and i'm in the process of sloping the ground away from the house and getting the pitch right before putting down the stone layer. I had a busy few weekends and was not able to work on the project and I live in the north east. This means that last weekend the ground was frozen and now all we are getting is rain. I have tarped the area so it didnt get more wet however it was still mud when I tarped it and it's not drying out. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I can do to get this done before the winter? The weather is not playing nice and its basically dark by the time i get home from work. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Lime is used on Drill Rig sites in the Oil patch to allow vehicle traffic to move when the rains or spring thaw hit. Works great.
