No cap block available nationwide for 6 inch concrete blocks

I decided to use 6 inch CMU blocks for the fountain base on my pond build. A 3 inch aluminum C channel will sit atop these blocks and serve as a fountain that drops water at both ends of the blocks down into a rock base and then flowing into the main pond.

However, now that I'm looking for cap blocks to go over the tops of these, I'm finding they simply don't exist outside of a few Menards locations (we don't have any in Alabama).

Anyone know where I may be able to order some 2 or 4 inch thick cap blocks to go on top of these? Must be 6 inches wide by 16 inches long.

I suppose I just may end up mortoring a stucco coat over these blocks and across the tops if I'm unable to locate cap blocks. Alternately, I figure I can rip cut a few 8 inch cap blocks down to fit the 6 inch blocks.

If I understand what you are looking for, Home Depot has it.

16 in. x 2 in. x 6 in. Concrete Block

Home Depot is not a good measure of availability since they only bother to sell what is requested (if you are lucky) or is commonly made or used locally.

A cap for a 6" wall (1", 1-5/8 ", 2-1/4" or 3-5/8" high) is easily made on any concrete block machine and should be available. - It is only a question whether a producer or retailer wants to carry slow moving items.

Thanks for the feedback, but no. Neither Home Depot or Lowes carry the block or will ship it to store or home in my area (Birmingham Alabama). Perhaps it's different for you at your location, but this is what I see.

OK, gotcha.

If HD or Lowe's can't order it for you, a city the size of Birmingham ought to have several large concrete and masonry supply companies that should have it or be able to order it.

Alternatively, maybe you can design something a little different, maybe using 6" bricks or paver stones or whatever. Maybe buy some 12" slate tile and cut them in half. That sort of thing.

It actually seems like it would look better if the cap Locks were a little wider than the wall anyway. I'm sure you can easily get 8" cap blocks.
concretemasonry and bob22 like this.

Or perhaps rough-edged slate?

Get 16X16's and cut them with a masonry blade.

I've decided to just core fill with sakrete and skim coat the rest.
