Curved Fireplace

I am building an outdoor fireplace. It is a modular masonry unit surrounded with cinder block. My wife would like the sides to be curved and finished with stucco like this:

I am trying to figure how to do this. I was planning on approximating the curve with small 2" steps of cut cinder block and concrete bricks, then filling in the steps with mortar. Is there a better way to do this? Here is what it looks like now and the section of rebar approximates the curve I am looking for. The block under the rebar are just setting there right now. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Curved Fireplace

Ugh. Sorry. I don't have the paperclip icon to link photos and the insert image tab apparently is not working. Tried to change to advance settings but it won't let me. I do have emojis though!

Here's your pictures, I think 3rd pic is supposed to be the first (I tried).

Re: Curved Fireplace

I would use concrete brick instead of block, as they're far easier to corbel and require much less mortar. We've done similar FP's in the past, and have always plastered with mortar in a few stages to avoid cracking. Keeping the mortar wet as long as possible obviously helps also.

Re: Curved Fireplace

Thanks Jomama. I appreciate the advice. So if I understand you, do a stepped pattern of cement bricks such that the corners approximate the curve, then fill in the steps with mortar to compete the curve? Something like this?:
