Brick laying ideas for slanted surface...plz help!

New to the forum and I'm looking for ideas and opinions from people with much more experience than I have. I recently had a landscaper add a brick wall to separate our front porch and side porch. It was matching brick with our home. The brickwork on our house is 18 bricks tall and the brickwork on the pillars are 19 bricks tall due to a slope in the concrete. The top portion of both the home and pillar are level. The way he laid the brick was to match up the lines of brick starting from the bottom and then when getting to the top you can tell that the bricks were laid at a noticeable slant. Is this normal? Wouldn't it look better if the top met the walls at a consistent height? Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions on what I should do would be extremely helpful! Thank you very much!

Looks fine to me. It follows the slope.
Probably most people would never notice unless you point it out.
Just don't invite people over that count bricks for a living.

That would drive me nuts, but as a mason, I suppose I have a blatant bias. I see no reason not to saw the first course to make the wall level, other than either laziness or ignorance.

I appreciate the response...this is what I am looking for. I assumed this was not correct but I have no experience with brick to call out the landscaper. Pardon the ignorance on my part (I know your comment wasn't referencing me), but to do this correctly the first row or couple rows of brick should have been cut to make the ground level? Or is this done with the mortar? Thank you!

Agree with Jomama. I'm a bricklayer as well and you would normally count down the courses from the top and make the cuts in the footings or base.
Only way to correct it is to take it down and rebuild it. Structurally it's not a problem.
But if you don't like the way it looks you need to change it.

The only correct way (IMPO) is to rip the brick on long angles. The first few brick on the high side would be so small that mortar would be easier.

Any chance you have a twin brother named "stuart45"?

Thought I'd have name change Joe. Actually I couldn't work it out when the passwords got reset and gave up and came back a year younger.

How does the wall look from the other side?

If you are satisfied, just live with it.
